Hike to Tijuca Peak

The hike to the Tijuca Peak, the highest point on the mountains of the Tijuca National Park, is gorgeous! Not only for its 360° panoramic view but also for the opportunity to hike in a preserved Atlantic Rain Forest in the middle of the Rio de Janeiro metropolis. Birds, butterflies, small reptiles and even monkeys usually show up and say hello.

More than just a hike, this route offers visitors the opportunity to experience nature and the history of the Tijuca National Park while seeing the city from different perspectives. On our way to the park and back to the hotel we end up driving over 30 miles through mountains, crooked roads and different neighborhoods.
