Corcovado + Santa Teresa + Downtown Walk

Being recently listed as one of the world’s seven wonders, Corcovado Mountain is surely the country’s most famous touristic attraction.

From its viewpoint placed 2,300 feet above sea level, we contemplate the grace of the northern and southern parts of the city. From up there it is possible to unveil completely all the mountains together with the always dotted by boats and barges Guanabara Bay. Under the Christ the Redeemer Statue it is possible to wonder and reflect upon the history, geography and urban development of the city.

Then, we drive down through the enchanting Tijuca Forest towards the charming Santa Teresa neighborhood. This part of the city was spontaneously developed during almost three centuries based on the Portuguese architecture experience. Nowadays the area is a very good example of an eclectic architecture collection.

From Santa Teresa we can take a charming tram that still running towards downtown Rio, an area better known as Centro, a historic neighborhood that remains contemporary. A walk by some of its main areas will tell you more about the history of the city while drawing you a modern picture of the Carioca society.
